Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Oh the joys of summer are upon us. Wonderful family vacations, the swim club, picnics, cookouts, Church Festivals, and the 4th of July. Then the lazy hazy days of summer until Labor Day. On Wednesdays we are going to be in Seasongood Square Park from 9 to 11. Please come and bring your garden tools, your chatter, and enjoy the park together. Watch what you have done come into bloom and you will feel the reward of beauty.
We need a volunteer to take ownership of the circle garden in Seasongood Square Park, as the previous gardener has moved. Recently we got it under control by weeding and mulching, allowing room for the many perennials to bloom and thrive. See Photo . All that is needed now is weed control and you will be amply rewarded with the beautiful perennials which can be shared with your neighbors.
We are extremely happy to report that after many years of problem solving with the Parks, our irrigation expert Greg Mullins was able to fix 2 irrigation zones at Seasongood. Both the corner and circle gardens now have automatic timed watering.
Many thanks to Richard Jackson for his continued generosity in beautifying the gardens along Victory Parkway and Dana Ave, creating additional exceptional gardens at the round-about as well as taking the initiative in clearing the overgrowth along Clinton Springs near the round-about to make the sidewalks safe and clean. Thank You Richard!
When I return from my summer vacation, I am personally going to thank Eugene who takes care of litter pick-up at the roundabout every day. He works at the Apartment Complex on Dana Ave. Many thanks to Eugene for his commitment and positive leadership. Keep up the good work!
A meeting has been scheduled with Steve Pacella, Assistant Director of Cincinnati Recreation Department, and several other responsible parties to continue development of a sustainable plan for litter pick-up and vegetation control at the Avon Fields Golf Course, adjacent additional land owned by Parks and public right-of-ways. Do I hear AMEN!!? I have invited the President of Paddock Hills Neighborhood Association who will be joining us.
Carolyn Gillman has started neighborhood Yard of the Month with another volunteer or two. This is a great idea for all of us to take in and enjoy the experience to join us in our neighborhood volunteering efforts. Everyone, thank you again for what you are doing and thank you for the commitments you are willing to undertake for all of us!
Wishing all of you a happy and safe 4th of July!

The Yard of the Month initiative is a neighborhood-wide plan to award yards that are creatively landscaped, decorated, or simply well taken care of. North Avondale Neighborhood Association provides yard signs for individuals as recognition for their hard work. Yard of the Month provides an outlet for people to contribute positively to their community.
Please stay tuned to see the yard that’s selected!
To pay the Parks to maintain the flower pots along Reading Road, we are taking donations for 2018. You can make a donation online at: http://northavondalecincinnati.com/ donate/ and check Other and put: flower pots or you can mail a donation to: NANA, 617 Clinton Springs Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45229, ATTN: Beautification.
