We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout, or a prettier day, for the Labor Day Parade. Our MC Jeff Herr got the crowd in the Labor Day spirit, and Mayor Cranley was an excellent Grand Marshal, leading the kids down Beechwood and Rose Hill. The huge parade throng returned to great music (thanks to Nelson & Betsy Jo Wesley), fun balloon animals, Rocket Pops and cold water (which were a great relief in the hot sun), and a host of fun, kid-friendly activities. Our wonderful police & fire departments kept everything safe and happy. We’d like to extend a special thank you to: District 4 Captain Martin Mack, Sergeant Doug Neack, Neighborhood Liaison Officer Lori Hamann, as well as Cincinnati Police Department Sergeant Greg Lewton (Special Event Unit), and Cincinnati City of Transportation’s Troy Hicks….and, of course, of own indomitable Michelle Baxter. Thanks also to Cincinnati Fire Department’s Ladder #32 (especially Martin Rutland). Dave (aka, That Balloon) guy kept twisting balloons until the last satisfied kid left, balloon sword in tow. Many thanks to Marvin Masterson and Steve Megerle for the extra help and donations. We are also sincerely grateful for the dynamic duo of Sara Kaufmann and Suzanne Goss, who not only let us invade their properties, fill their trash cans and borrow countless random objects, but also pitched in and worked hard to help us get everything ready that morning. It filled our hearts with joy to see so many neighbors out enjoying one another and enjoying the day. We have the best neighborhood in Cincinnati (OK, we’re biased), and it was on display at this sweet event. Thank you to all who attended, and made the day so special!
