An enthusiastic group gathered on October 24, 2015 at Seasongood Square Park to “Think Spring in the Fall” and partner with the North Avondale Neighborhood Association Beautification Committee in another clean up event. We were all a bit concerned about the weather, but as the sun broke through the clouds in the late morning and early afternoon, our spirits were uplifted. Over a dozen volunteers conquered a towering mulch pile to protect the bulbs that will beautify the tree rings around the maple trees which border the flower bed at the park entrance. Litter was cleared from the park and twenty perennials and annuals filled the flower bed to welcome visitors to our neighborhood. At the end of the event volunteers were rewarded with pizza and water. The entire event could not be made possible without generous donations by the following organizations and individuals:

  • Keep Cincinnati Beautiful for their contribution of t-shirts, publicity and supplies
  • Thanks to the our Cincinnati Public School friends for promoting the event: Walnut Hills High School Parent Teacher Organization (Ms. Carolyn Gillman), Clark Montessori High School (Principal Dean Blasé) and North Avondale Montessori School (Principal, Roger Lewis)
  • Cincinnati Parks Florist Ms. Mary Dorn for coordination of planting and donation of bulbs and plants
  • Cincinnati Parks Employee, Ms. Pam for her assistance throughout the day
  • Mr. Jake Turner, Juvenile Court Work Detail Supervisor and his crew for the clean-up effort throughout the surrounding area
  • North Avondale Neighborhood Association for the donation of pizza
  • The Belvedere Apartments for use of their space
  • The many, many fantastic volunteers who spent their valuable time to beautify our neighborhood: Janet and Robert Banks, Edie Gaudio, Hanne Loken Larsen, Bridget McComas, Thais Morata and Clio DeJong, Roger Stevens, Nancy Windes, and Maura, J. Miles and Tyler Wolf.
