Take advantage of the following two offerings.

  • The RED CROSS is providing free 10-yr, no battery required Smoke Alarms. They will install them for you. All you have to do is call 513  579-3000 and provide basic information. There is no income criteria; nothing; it is FREE. You have to set up a time and be present when they come out to install.  Please take advantage of this opportunity.

  • Every year DUKE ENERGY chooses a neighborhood to which to provide energy-saving products. Avondale was the neighborhood for 2019. Beginning March 22 through the end of July 2019, Duke will be going to EACH residence in Avondale asking permission to walk through to assess where you might be losing energy. Duke will provide and install nine different energy-saving products:  digital room thermometer, energy-saving showerhead or shower wand, a one- year supply of furnace filters, water-saving kitchen and bathroom faucet aerators, energy-efficient light bulbs, water heater wraps, covers for window AC units and caulking, weather stripping and door sweeps.  You will be given about a two-week advance notice when Duke plans to begin its work on your street.  The procedure is for you to allow the technicians into your residence for them to do the assessment and then to install the products that you may need.  If you work and know that you will not be home during the day, call 855.227.2940 and set up an appointment for them to come at a time that is convenient for you.  Duke has indicated that they will try to accommodate every person’s schedule. Once the products are installed, you should experience a notable decrease in your utility monthly bill.
