Thank you very much to everyone who came out for the tree dedication in honor of our past NANA president Marvin Masterson, and a special thank you to Vice Mayor Christopher Smitherman and to Linda Thomas, President Avondale 29, for their beautiful, personal remarks on this occasion, and to Holly Nelson, whose excellent violin performance really made the event special. We had a nice community gathering afterwards at the Belvedere, and in addition to it always being enjoyable meeting up with our North Avondale neighbors, it felt like a very appropriate celebration of life in wake of the too sudden passing of Marvin.
The Gingko tree is officially registered in Marvin’s memory with the Cincinnati Parks Foundation. Many thanks to Emily Harten, John Jones, Hanne Løken Larsen, Michael Caporale, Miles and Maura Wolf, NANA and NABA, for resourcefully planning and organizing this event. A special thank you to Hanne for her warm welcoming remarks and as Master of Ceremony, to Emily for organizing the tree dedication with the Parks, Michael for making a memorable slide show, to Miles for helping with sound system and photography, to Five Star Foodies for catering the event, to Heather Herr for baking cookies to share, and to the Belvedere for letting us host the event in their community room.
As Vice Mayor Smitherman stated, Marvin was a great statesmen and we were very proud to have him serve as our President. He was an all around great person who made North Avondale, this City and the world a better place. He will be missed greatly.
Sincerely, Marvin’s Co-Board members, friends and neighbors on the planning committee
