We survived the relentless heat of September. The rain has finally arrived. Many neighbors are putting away their sprinklers and sighing in relief that the plants and trees that make up our historic neighborhood will survive another year. October will bring more colorful fall days and evenings to enjoy our friends and neighbors.
The NANA Social Committee partnered with Matt and Heather Ruehl (Marion Ave.) to host the first annual North Avondale Porch Fest, a fun family-friendly music festival. Everyone had so much fun enjoying the live music in the cool evening weather. What a successful and fun evening for all ages to enjoy the friends, food, kids’ activities to promote and improve engagement in the community.
The October NANA monthly meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 10, 2023. The meeting will start at 6:30pm and run about 1.5 hours. The meeting topic will be “Preventing Falls During Residential Roofing”, by Scott Breloff, a Senior Biomechanical Engineer at the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health, CDC. He and colleague Thais Morata (Beechwood) will discuss injury and fatalities statistics, the homeowner’s liability, how to ask a contractor about safety and your specific job, and the types of personal protective equipment to look for. This presentation is timely as we are crossing into the holiday light time of year. Many roofing companies will offer this service to keep business up
