President’s Message: A reflection on November and the promise of December 2024

As we step into the final month of the year, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we’ve shared in November. From meaningful conversations about the future of North Avondale to community-driven initiatives shaping our neighborhood, it’s clear we are building something extraordinary. The energy and dedication of our residents inspire me every single day.

This past month has been a testament to the power of collaboration. Whether through planning meetings, neighborhood improvements, or simply connecting with one another, we’ve achieved so much together. These moments are the heartbeat of our community—a vivid reflection of what we can accomplish when we come together with shared purpose and determination.

As we look toward December, the spirit of the holidays calls us to embrace unity, generosity and gratitude. I want to take a moment to express my deepest thanks to Sarah Koucky, Walter Koucky and Matthew Cornell, whose unwavering dedication and tireless efforts serve as the foundation of our community’s progress. There is something profoundly comforting and powerful about having people you can always count on—steadfast in their commitment, no matter the challenge. Their support is not just invaluable; it fuels my energy and the collective spirit of North Avondale. Because of them, we are able to dream bigger, work harder and achieve more. Simply saying “thank you” feels far too small to capture the immense gratitude I feel.

I am thrilled to invite you all to our Annual Holiday Party taking place on Thursday, December 14th, from 6 – 9 p.m. at The Center for Social Justice. This event is more than a celebration—it’s a time to relax, connect, and reflect on all we’ve accomplished together while looking forward to the bright future ahead. Let’s gather to share in the joy of the season, surrounded by the vibrant spirit of our neighborhood.

December also offers us the opportunity to think about the year ahead. As we celebrate the holidays with our families and friends, let’s carry the values of kindness, compassion, and hope into 2025. Let’s make this season not only a time of giving but also a moment to envision the stronger, more inclusive community we aspire to create.

Thank you all for your continued dedication and passion for North Avondale. Your hard work has made this year remarkable, and I am excited for all we will achieve together in the months to come. Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful holiday season filled with warmth, laughter, and love. Let’s end this year on a high note and step into 2025 with renewed purpose and determination.

With Gratitude,

Dawn Johnson | NANA President
