North Avondale Montessori held their annual Grandparents Day on November 22, 2024

Every year, North Avondale Montessori invites grandparents to spend a morning in the classroom with their grandchildren. This year on Friday, November 22, 2024, the school opened its doors to over 200 grandparents and family friends. The North Avondale Recreation Center hosted the opening reception. Refreshments, including fresh fruit, donuts and coffee, were provided. (Thank you, Jamie and Les Stoneham of Deeper Roots Coffee.)

Principal Ferguson and Ms. Tawanna Brookins started the assembly by introducing the school’s volunteer groups and PTO. Guests were also introduced to the North Avondale Foundation and the Local School Decision-Making Committee. In addition, Steven King from the Reign Shop in College Hill shared a new NAM spirit wear item, a women’s cardigan sweater.

As always, the entertainment was exceptional. The Girls to Women group performed a dance routine, and the Suzuki students played their instruments. Performances also included Mr. Barnsfield’s drumline and the NAM choir performance. They were charismatic and energetic.

The best part of the morning was visiting the classrooms. Each classroom welcomed the visitors to sit with the students. The teachers and children enjoyed talking about their studies and meeting everyone’s extended family.

NAM thanks all of the volunteers who helped prepare for this great family day at North Avondale Montessori. In addition to the school staff, they recognize the NA Dads Group for helping with parking in the cold weather and the CRC staff for setting up and breaking down the chairs and tables.
