After nearly 20 years, Avondale’s food desert has ended with the opening of The Country Meat Co. Marketplace at Avondale Town Center. Owned by Chanel and Tennell Bryant of Findlay Market’s The Country Meat Co., the full-service grocery, which opened February 28, 2025, fulfills a long-awaited community need.
The store, featuring fresh produce, a meat counter, and a coffee bar, aims to be a community hub, strengthening local connections. It’s part of the 11-acre Avondale Town Center, a $46 million mixed-use development funded by federal, state, and local sources, including a 2012 federal housing grant.
Cincinnati City Council and Cincinnati Children’s contributed financially, alongside The Community Builders’ investment. Russell Hairston of the Avondale Development Corporation praised the marketplace for bringing fresh food, jobs, and economic growth.
