Community Service Volunteering Opportunity
September 16 @ 8:00 am – November 21 @ 2:00 pm
Dear North Avondale Neighborhood Association,
As the Volunteer Outreach Specialist for People Working Cooperatively (PWC), I would like to invite your neighborhood to participate with us in an upcoming event. Every fall, PWC has an event called PrepareAffair where we assist older adults and folks with disabilities with outdoor maintenance tasks before winter by raking their leaves and cleaning their gutters. PWC is a local non-profit organization that provides critical home repairs, modifications for mobility issues, and energy conservation services for low-income and elderly individuals in the Greater Cincinnati area. Our mission is to help people to safely live in their homes by providing preventative measures and addressing issues in the home that would impact the health of the residents. The work that we do helps to impact communities to preserve affordable housing units and keeps our clients living in their homes.
In order to accomplish this important work we need people power to get it done! Our Volunteer Program plays a key part in PWC’s mission and we are asking for your assistance by helping a few home owners, in and around your neighborhood. Prepare Affair is very kid and family friendly and a great way to connect with students, family, neighbors and coworkers in a meaningful way right before the holiday season. We would love to have the community of North Avondale participate in our Volunteer Program.
This year’s event will be hosted at our new location in Sharonville on Saturday, November, 21st from 8am-2pm, 3440 East Kemper Rd. We are excited to show off our new space and will have a celebratory lunch with food trucks, pizza and lots of fun from 12p-2p. As always, we encourage teams to pick any day after the 15th of the month to schedule their service if they cannot make it on the main day. Last year PWC volunteers were able to assist over 700 families with leaf raking and gutter cleaning to help prepare them for the winter, but we had over 100 families who were not able to get any assistance, so the need for more volunteers is very real! PWC will provide the yard waste bags, gloves, rakes, and ladders for volunteers if needed (though we certainly appreciate teams that can provide some of their own tools)
Our registration page is up and running, so please consider signing up as a crew leader and assembling a team today. We are looking forward to getting out in the community, making connections with our neighbors, and connecting clients with the help they are looking for!
