From the Cincinnati Fire Department’s October Community Council Notes
Fire Prevention Week runs October 4–10, 2026. This year’s theme, “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower,” focuses on safely charging and using rechargeable devices and batteries at home and at work.
With smartphones, tablets, e-bikes, and power tools now part of daily life, a few simple habits significantly reduce fire risk: use manufacturer-approved chargers, avoid overcharging, keep devices away from things that can burn, and replace damaged batteries.
The department also encourages every household to talk through an emergency plan and test its smoke alarms. Events this week include a Red, Pink and Blue Detector Blitz (Wednesday, Oct. 7) and a Firehouse Open House (Saturday, Oct. 10).
