President’s Message: September 2024

Dear Neighbors,

Summer is ending, and school has begun. It’s been a beautiful season, filled with bright sunshine and comfortable temperatures — perfect for enjoying the outdoors with friends and neighbors.

The NANA monthly meetings resumed Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at the North Avondale Recreation Center. We’ll meet on the second Tuesday of each month, and each meeting will run for about 1.5 hours. You can easily add the dates to your personal calendar via the Events calendar on the website.

Special thanks to everyone who attended the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra’s Brady Block Party on July 19, 2024. The event featured food trucks, vendor booths, face painting, music, free giveaways and activities for the entire family before the outstanding performance of the full CSO on stage at the North Avondale Recreation Center. We’re grateful to the CSO for bringing the community together through this incredible series.

In other updates: Walt Koucky has been hard at work on the Master Plan in collaboration with Urban Fast Forward, ensuring that the Connected Communities legislation respects North Avondale’s neighborhood plan. We are committed to ensuring any new developments align with the unique character and architecture of our community. Stay tuned for more developments on this front!

Matt Cornell is leading the process on the historic delegation project. The general body voted on a new consultant to help with this effort at this month’s meeting.

We’re delighted to introduce Officer Allison Heiland as our new neighborhood liaison. Heiland will be an essential connection between our community and law enforcement, helping ensure safety and communication throughout North Avondale.

Additionally, we are pleased to welcome Jennifer Harten as our newly appointed 2nd Vice President. Jennifer’s leadership and dedication to our neighborhood will help guide us in the exciting work ahead. We look forward to the contributions both will bring as we continue to strengthen our community.

As we embrace the beauty of September, with fall on the horizon, I am reminded of the crisp air and the golden hues that paint our neighborhood. This change in season is a time for reflection and new beginnings, and I’m grateful to share it with such a wonderful community.

Sincerely,
Dawn Johnson
NANA President
