Zion Baptist Church, located at 630 Glenwood Avenue, will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of its Interfaith Vesper, “Sharing Dr. Martin L. King’s Dream of One Nation,” on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at 3 p.m.
This year’s speaker is Stephanie J. Jones, JD. Jones is president of the Nathaniel Jones Justice Foundation and daughter of the late Honorable Nathaniel R. Jones, Zion’s first Vesper speaker. Jones and her father, a former Judge in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, both embrace Dr. King’s dream of freedom and justice for all. Stephanie continues that theme in her speech.
Dr. King began his crusade in the church and spoke at Zion in 1961. In 2005, Zion’s retired pastor, Rev. James H. Cantrell, held the first Vesper and invited religious participants from various faiths to participate. These diverse faiths have participated throughout the decades and will participate this year. The 2025 Vesper will feature performances by the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra Nouveau Chamber Players (CSYONCP) and the Zion Baptist Church choir.
The Greater Cincinnati community is invited to join the celebration of this historical event. A reception will follow.
