North Avondale Historic District Information
Welcome to our Historic District Landing page. We hope to gather as much information as we can for those interested in exploring the potential for an Historic District here in North Avondel. Below you will find links to documents as well as progress reports on this effort. Please check back as we will update this page as we are able.
If you have already filled out this form, your feedback has been counted. If you have NOT filled out this form, but have any interest in keeping up to date on this initiative, please take a few minutes to so. It is our best link to get information out and gather feedback. Thank you in advance and check out the update below which includes links to recent newspaper, television and radio coverage our historic district initiative has received.
Dear neighbors –
Thank you to all who have reached out to support the proposed North Avondale Historic District or to voice your concerns. We appreciate all those who have donated time and money to see this grassroots effort move forward.
From our online forms and email campaign we are at approximately 95 to 5 ratio of support vs not. We’ve also received a lot of good press recently about the proposal so hopefully everyone is more aware of the project.

We would, however, like to see everyone weigh in. This helps us define the boundary of the district and show broad support once our application is accepted.
If you haven’t already done so, PLEASE fill out the form above. There is no obligation to help finance or volunteer. We just want confirmation that our neighbors have been informed and have had an opportunity to ask questions before we go through the full process of submitting the application and utilizing our consultant.
We all have much to be thankful for this month. I give thanks for all the wonderful neighbors that have shared stories with me about living in this neighborhood and their commitment to being good stewards for the next generations.
I actually live in SB, but NA-adjacent. I am a preservationist by training and would be happy to provide advice and guidance on this project as needed. I don’t have time to take on much more than that, but I’m happy to be a person you call with a question or the person who reviews a draft of something.
Anne would be an amazing addition!
Will anyone be attending the City meeting on Friday December 6 regarding the house 693 Gholson? Either in person or on Zoom?
Your support is needed. Thanks
