Financial assistance for small businesses and homeowners in the city

The City of Cincinnati’s Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) currently has two financial programs available to help small businesses when opening, expanding or relocating and homeowners to get property tax relief.

Cincinnati Commercial Tenant Improvement Program (CTIP) was created in 2023 to encourage economic development by reducing barriers small businesses face when securing commercial space.

  • In 2023, eleven Cincinnati businesses received grants: 6 ‘N the Mornin,’ Artist City Properties, Aunt Flora’s, College Hill Pilates & Physical Therapy, Cutman Barbershop, DANCEFIX, Mediterranean Imports, Just Q’in, Pour Candle Co., Sweet Mae’s Cookie Co. and Sweets & Meats BBQ.
  • Another round of grants is now available to small businesses in Cincinnati. Through CTIP, DCED will grant up to $20,000 for tenant improvements to small businesses (1) relocating to Cincinnati, (2) opening a new location in Cincinnati or (3) expanding within Cincinnati.
  • The deadline to apply is 5 P.M. EST on Monday, October 21, 2024.

HomeSafe Property Tax Relief Program (HomeSafe) is run by the City of Cincinnati in partnership with the Hamilton County Treasurer’s Office.

  • The program provides property tax relief of up to $10,000.00 to low-to-moderate-income homeowners who are currently delinquent on their property taxes.
  • Applications opened in July of 2024 and are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the calendar year. Awards are given on a first-come, first-served basis.
