Master Plan update: Takeaways from the first public meeting

The first public meeting of the Master Plan development process took place at Hirsch Recreation Center on May 30, 2024. This event was very successful with about 70 of our neighbors who came out to offer their opinions on a vision for North Avondale’s future. The Master Plan is essentially a work plan between the neighborhood and the City on the things that can be accomplished to create a safer and more vital neighborhood.

Topics raised to date include:

  • Safety: Traffic quieting, safe passable sidewalks, reduced gun violence and drug trafficking.
  • Effective City code enforcement: Unsafe mismanaged apartments, trash, streets and sidewalks.
  • Greenspace, park and playground improvements: Improved tree canopy, lighting, power and a pavilion for Seasongood Square Park, walking paths, a bike hub and tie-ins to Wasson Way plus future walking and bike paths.
  • Historical preservation, development and housing: Protecting neighborhood character while developing some mixed-use commercial space with perhaps a coffee shop and other small shops.

North Avondale and our partners, Urban Fast Forward and the City of Cincinnati, are still collecting ideas and compiling information from the May meeting. Thank you to the staff at Hirsch Recreation Center for hosting this first public meeting.

Watch for announcements of future meetings here. This process will result in a survey providing another opportunity for public participation. We hope you will join your neighborhoods to share your opinions and voice.
