Dear North Avondale Community,
I wanted to share a bit of the story behind From Arteries to Zzz’s: Nurse Britt’s ABC’s of Health.
As a nurse, I’ve spent years watching how overwhelming and confusing healthcare can be—not just for adults, but for children too. I’ve held the hands of little ones who were frightened by words they didn’t understand, and every time, I wished they had been introduced to this language much earlier. One day, after seeing a child struggle to make sense of a simple medical term, I felt called to create something that could change that experience.
That moment sparked the creation of this book.
From Arteries to Zzz’s: Nurse Britt’s ABC’s of Health was written to introduce medical terminology to children in a fun, approachable, and empowering way. It teaches them the language of health early—before fear or confusion ever has the chance to take root. My goal is to place a book in the hands of every child, because early education doesn’t just shape knowledge; it shapes confidence and the foundation for a healthier future.
