“Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.” — Anonymous
Dear North Avondale Family,
As we enter this final month of the year, I am reminded once again of what makes our neighborhood so extraordinary. December invites us to slow down, reflect, and look with gratitude at the moments — big and small — that shaped us this year. And when I look across North Avondale, I see a community that shows up, gives generously, and continually finds ways to lift one another higher.
November brought unexpected changes, including shifting our General Body Meeting online due to the Rec Center’s Veteran’s Day closure. But true to North Avondale spirit, we adapted with grace, and I am grateful that we will all have the opportunity to gather in person once again for our December meeting. Nothing replaces the energy, connection, and joy we feel when we are together in the same room.
This month’s newsletter is overflowing with reminders of who we are.
We celebrate learning and curiosity through The New School Montessori, where students are breaking down numbers — and misconceptions — with creativity and confidence. We honor our shared commitment to safety through the North Avondale Crime Report, staying informed and united as we navigate the challenges of the colder months. And we spotlight the many holiday events that bring light to this season: our Christmas Party on December 13, Holiday Movie Night at the Rec Center, and the Cincinnati Police Department’s annual Christmas Affair for our senior neighbors.
These gatherings are more than events on a calendar. They are touchpoints of belonging. They remind us that community isn’t built in one meeting or one season — it is built through consistent acts of care, hospitality, and togetherness.
As we close out 2025, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each of you who planted flowers, taught children, attended meetings, organized programs, supported small businesses, cared for your neighbors, and brought kindness into every corner of North Avondale. Your compassion is visible. Your presence is felt. Your impact is real.
Let us step into this holiday season with warmth, intention, and love — ready to celebrate not only where we’ve been, but where we are going. And as always, if you feel called to join a committee, volunteer at an event, or simply deepen your involvement, please know there is a place for you here. Your voice and your gifts matter.
North Avondale continues to shine because you continue to shine.
With love, gratitude, and holiday joy,
Dawn Johnson
President, North Avondale Neighborhood Association
