President’s Message – October 2025

“Autumn reminds us that change can be beautiful when we embrace it together.”

Dear Neighbors,

Yesterday, we celebrated Indigenous Peoples’ Day, a moment to honor the first caretakers of this land whose wisdom continues to teach us about stewardship, balance, and community. As the leaves turn and the air grows cooler, North Avondale glows with that same spirit, a reminder that when we care for one another, we all thrive.

September was a meaningful month. During our General Body Meeting, we hosted a Candidates Night where neighbors had the opportunity to hear directly from those seeking to represent our city. It was an evening rooted in civic engagement and collective care, a reminder that democracy begins right here in our neighborhoods.

We also continued important conversations about the North Avondale Master Plan, our CDC formation, and the committees that keep our community strong. I am so proud of the growing collaboration and commitment I see in each of you.

As we step into October, let us carry that energy forward. Join us for the Fall Festival on October 29 at the Recreation Center for a night filled with family fun, snacks, and laughter. And be sure to visit citywide celebrations like International Friendship Day on October 18, highlighting the rich diversity that makes Cincinnati shine.

Next month brings another pivotal moment, Election Day on November 4. Let us show up with purpose and unity. Our vote is more than a civic duty; it is an act of hope and love for the generations who will walk these same streets after us.

Our committees, both old and new, are continuing to form, each playing a vital role in shaping the future of North Avondale. If you would like to get involved, please reach out to me or Amy at admin@nanacincy.org. There is always room for your voice, your ideas, and your heart in this work.

Together, we are building a legacy of unity, compassion, and resilience, one that will carry North Avondale forward for years to come.

With gratitude and hope,

Dawn Johnson

President, North Avondale Neighborhood Association
