St. Bernard’s “Will Light for Food” contest returns for its 8th year

The St. Bernard Village Christmas Celebration takes place on Saturday, December 2nd. All are welcome to attend this FREE event.

Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with the tree-lighting ceremony at City Hall (110 Washington Avenue). Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for photos. (Bring your own camera.) Guests can also enjoy a petting zoo, carolers and a train display by the Queen City HiRailers.

Cookies and hot chocolate will be on hand, as well as LaRosa’s Pizza and Wiedemann’s Fine Beer. Holiday gift-givers can stroll Washington Avenue to browse and shop small businesses and makers at the St. Bernard Fresh Market.

Last but not least, this year marks St. Bernard’s 8th annual “Will Light for Food” contest, which was created to unite the community in the spirit of the holidays and shared interest of giving. Participating homes will be judged by spectators placing canned goods and personal care items in bins outside their favorite houses. For those viewing the sights by foot or car, the Village Positive Action Committee will post a map a week before the contest. Free trolley rides around the neighborhood will also be available. All donations collected go to St. Clement’s Food Pantry.
