Students, teachers and parents caught the "soccer buzz" during TNSM debut season

The New School Montessori was named “The New School” as a reminder to be open to innovations in teaching, ways of thinking and ideas. So it was no surprise that in the fall of 2024, TNSM teacher, parent and SAY East tournament coordinator, Catherine Pray Bollmann, added a new element for the students — TNSM soccer. It is with great joy and pride that TNSM announces that the students all played well and had a terrific time.

There was so much interest in boys’ and girls’ soccer that five teams were formed to accommodate everyone. And it’s not just the kids who are having fun, the whole school is enjoying the “soccer buzz,” with extended family and friends appreciating their time together on the sidelines. Most importantly, parents have marveled at how TNSM students continuously support each other during the games, both at scored goals and missed shots.

The Boys Striker team not only won their division for the regular season but also qualified for the playoffs and won the entire SAY East Tournament!

After a first-round bye, the Boys Striker team played Price Hill Lord’s Gym in the quarterfinals, winning 6-1. Then they played St. Mary’s in the semifinals and won 3-1. The championship match against Sands Montessori ended with a 3-3 tie. However, TNSM scored 3 goals in overtime and won 6-3.

As a result of their championship win, the team has qualified for The Ohio Area State Tournament (TOAST). Tournament matches will take place at Joyce Park on November 8th, 9th, 16th and 17th. In addition, TNSM’s Girls Wings team will be playing in the Grothaus Tournament in Milford. The girls hope to bring home another win for TNSM.
