Did you know that the Cincinnati Police Department has a free program that allows residents and businesses to register their exterior security cameras?
Connect Cincinnati is a voluntary camera registry that helps investigators quickly identify nearby cameras when a crime or emergency occurs. If an incident happens near your property, police may contact you to ask whether your camera captured relevant footage.
Importantly, registering your camera does not give the police access to your live video feed. It simply lets investigators know that a camera is present and whom to contact if footage may be helpful.
Whether you have a Ring, Eufy, Arlo, Nest, Reolink, Lorex, or another exterior security camera, registering takes about one minute. I recently registered my own cameras, and the entire process took me about 60 seconds.
At the time of writing, Connect Cincinnati has more than 1,500 registered cameras across the city. Every additional camera strengthens the network available to assist first responders and investigators.
