The New School Montessori Celebrated Earth Day with Bursts of Color, Hospitality and Enthusiasm

New School Montessori students and teachers talked about the importance of showing good stewardship to the Earth, and they spent the day giving back in various ways to show their appreciation for the many gifts nature gives to us.

Colorful artwork was created using Mother Nature’s own flower petals, sticks and rocks to create works of art, inspired by professional artist, Andy Goldsworthy, who works entirely with materials found in nature.

Plants and pollinators were encouraged to “put down roots” as students showed their hospitality by installing a bug hotel in the (3-6) woods to shelter pollinators and by planting seeds to transfer to the Learning Garden, once risk of frost has passed.

Students also showed their love of nature by enthusiastically picking up trash from our beautiful North Avondale neighborhood.
